Brass is an alloy family, not a single material
Brasses are copper-zinc alloys, and additions of other elements may change their properties. The general term “brass” is therefore not enough to confirm a component material.
Include the full grade from the current drawing or specification. Catalogue values provide general knowledge and do not replace order requirements.

Complete input reduces follow-up questions and allows the casting and any machining to be reviewed as one scope.

- complete material grade designation
- key dimensions and required quantity
- surfaces intended for machining
- inspection and acceptance requirements, if specified
Casting and machining in one scope
We can discuss an as-cast component or machining of specified surfaces. Dimensions, tolerances, allowances and delivery condition should be stated in the documentation.

What information is needed to quote a brass casting?
Send a drawing or sample, full grade, dimensions, quantity, required delivery condition and machining scope.
Is the word “brass” sufficient?
No. Brass is a family of alloys. Include the complete material designation from the documentation.
Can METAL-KOLOR also machine the casting?
The scope may include machining of specified surfaces when the requirements are agreed before production.
Can a part be reproduced from a sample?
Send sample photographs and dimensions together with the material information. The possible preparation route can then be reviewed.
Does a photograph confirm the brass grade?
No. Visual appearance does not replace a material designation or testing.
